An elegant garden party wedding for Sre and Kyle

Kyle and Sre tied the knot with a beautiful ceremony at St Luke’s Catholic Church before kicking off the dreamiest garden party wedding at Winsford Gardens. Their day had all the good stuff, soft colours, timeless touches, and the kind of joyful energy that kept everyone dancing and laughing well into the night. For the flowers, we leaned into blooms that carried real meaning for Sre, mixing her grandparents’ beloved roses and anthuriums with draping amaranthus for that extra bit of whimsy and romance.

Tell Me About Your Love Story! How Did You Two Meet?

Kyle and I met at Massey University in 2019 when we were undergrad students there. I was a first year student who had made a friend through one of the student clubs. She invited me one day to join her and her group of friends at the library, which consisted of Kyle who was a second year student at the time. He was very quiet and introverted and I was very loud and extroverted, so I approached him first and we quickly became best friends.

3 months later I found out he liked me and I told him, while I thought he was a great guy, he wasn’t my type. But then a minute later I decided to give him a shot. After 5 and a half years of being crazy in love with each other we got married and our friend Rachel who’s the reason we met was a bridesmaid!

What Was Your Vision for Your Wedding? Did You Have a Theme, a Feeling, or an Aesthetic in Mind?

I wanted soft colours and a romantic vibe to the wedding. We wanted all our guests to enjoy and have the best time ever. So prioritising cocktail hour and loads of dancing was very important to us. We also had to follow some family traditions when it came to planning the day, so a lot of the elements of our day was decided by the family. I did have a timeless elegance aesthetic in mind and on my vision board when I started planning, but towards the end a lot of stuff did not work out unfortunately. So in the end I wanted a fun, calm, happy day that could be enjoyed by everyone.

What Role Did Flowers Play in Your Day? Were There Specific Blooms, Colours, or Arrangements That Were Meaningful to You?

I knew my bridal bouquet and the bridesmaids bouquets was a very high priority for me since the beginning. I wanted pinks, yellows, greens and white to match our wedding stationery and colour theme. It was very important to me to have roses and anthuriums in my bouquet as my maternal grandparents have a lot of rose and anthurium plants in their house that I’ve seen growing up.

I wanted to include them as part of my day as my grandmother could not attend the wedding and it was a special nod to my grandfather who passed away during COVID. I also had developed a recent obsession with amaranthus and absolutely needed them as well.

Final Thoughts

Plan in advance, prioritise what’s most important to you and get help from people who understand the vision of your day and can help you execute it. Things can go wrong on the day, but don’t stress and go with the flow. The wedding goes by in a flash so definitely make the most of your day and have the best time ever!
