Some couples come to us with a Pinterest board. Others come with a single, crystal-clear vision. For Lucy, it was all about a floating floral canopy.

From the moment she enquired, she knew she wanted a dramatic hanging floral installation to take full advantage of the soaring ceilings at The Glasshouse in Morningside. What followed was a wedding day filled with thoughtful intention a blend of modern romance, cultural connection, and one very iconic 8-metre installation.

Weaving together couples Chinese and Indian heritage, their dream was to create something truly personal. We landed on a palette that felt like a love letter to early autumn: burnt rust, soft burgundy, deep forest green, and a touch of unexpected lilac. Lucy also asked that her bridal bouquet include everlasting florals so she could gift it to her mum after the day, a moment that inspired us to carry that theme through the entire day.

Starting with the ceremony, we framed the couple with two wild and sculptural urn arrangements on raised white plinths, designed to echo the architecture of the venue without competing with it. These floral pillars set the tone for what guests would later find overhead.

The reception installation was where the magic truly unfolded. A ceiling garden made from a blend of dried foraged fern (which we spent 3 hours sourcing!), fluffy hydrangeas, roses, anthuriums, hellebores, and elegant lighting woven throughout thanks to the incredible team at La Lumiere. The effect was dramatic, yet delicate a floating floral canopy brought to life by a team of four, two van loads of blooms, and six solid hours of design magic.

What guests didn’t see? The behind-the-scenes pivot when we realised festoon lighting wouldn't support the weight of the installation. With only a few weeks to go, we coordinated directly with the truss provider and La Lumière to bring in modern chandeliers suspended within the florals, a last-minute change that became one of the most talked-about features of the day. (Lucy made the call, of course — we just made it happen.)

From ceremony to reception, Lucy and Jatin’s day felt like a beautiful merging of cultures, season, and soul. A modern wedding filled with story, sentiment, and a whole lot of ceiling drama. Thank you, Lucy and Jatin, for trusting us to bring your vision to life.
