Floral design challenge Week 8: An ode to my Grandmother

Each floral design challenge is designed to challenge my creativity and step out of my comfort zone.

This comes with its own set of challenges and learnings. Especially when working with sustainable mechanics. I'm learning to accept that things don't always go to plan. That's truly what this challenge is about.

Week 8: An ode to my grandmother

This week’s floral installation is particularly special. As the seasons of life continue to inspire my designs, I felt compelled to create something that honours my beautiful mother, who is currently back in France facing several health challenges. The design was inspired by a treasured family memory: my grandmother's very first bag, purchased when she was an 18-year-old working as a bridal dress designer in Paris.

With the recent rise of the floral bridal bag trend, I couldn’t help but draw from that deep connection to my roots. This week's creation is a nod to that iconic piece, blending timeless elegance with the beauty of nature. It’s a tribute to the generations of strong women in my family, each with their own story, their own journey. 🌸
