Floral design challenge Week 6: The Blue vase effect

Each floral design challenge is designed to challenge my creativity and step out of my comfort zone.

This comes with its own set of challenges and learnings. Especially when working with sustainable mechanics. I'm learning to accept that things don't always go to plan. That's truly what this challenge is about.

Week 6: The Blue Vase Effect

If you follow my Instagram stories You'll remember the blue vases I recently fell in love with! So much so that I had originally gone in to buy 4 and left with 12 *oops*.

Ultimately, the purchase was worth it because it inspired this week's design challenge. Not only did my new "blue baby" inspire the colour palette for this design, but a fellow florist here in New Zealand, Bek Novak Floral Design, recently created the dreamiest garlands from the humble agapanthus. So you bet I had to try recreating these for myself.

And so this week's design was born from foraged lilies growing in our driveway, vibrant blue agapanthus and the last of the flowering artichoke.
